This project provides an opportunity for states, counties and cities to develop strategies for coordinating funding across multiple public systems and agencies from federal, state and local dollars. Six states or local jurisdictions have been selected to participate in a learning network that will provide information and speakers on practical solutions from other states that have been successful at coordinating numerous and complex federal, state and local funding sources.
The introduction of well-planned and innovative cross-system financing strategies allows state and local governments to identify and use multiple funding sources to become better purchasers of mental health and addiction services. The ultimate goal of creating better government purchasing and funding coordination practices is to improve both access and the quality of behavioral health services for public sector clients.
Four learning network sessions are planned over the duration of the project. These learning sessions will expose participants to various financial and administrative approaches used and refined by other states, counties and cities.
